Maddie Webb is a contemporary painter whose work sits in a shifting space between abstraction and representation.

Her paintings are informed by memory and by places travelled to, drawing on landscapes that are recalled, reimagined and emotionally filtered rather than directly observed. Working primarily in oils, she uses a slow, intuitive process of layering, erasure and reworking, allowing forms and atmospheres to emerge gradually over time.
Rather than depicting specific locations, Maddie’s paintings suggest fragments of place; horizons, light, terrain and weather, hovering between recognition and ambiguity. Through veils of colour and glazes, her work explores how memory distorts and softens experience, creating images that feel both grounded and elusive. Stillness, restraint and quiet tension are central, inviting prolonged looking and reflection.
Maddie recently completed a Master of Fine Art at Falmouth University, where she further developed a process-led and materially responsive approach to painting. She is an Associate Member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists (RBSA) and continues to develop her practice through ongoing research, exhibition and collaboration.
